Use the conveyor belt to your advantage
In Candy Crush Saga level 587, there is a conveyor belt that consists of three rows in the form of a 'z' shape. Your ingredient is going to fall somewhere on this belt. When it does, the best thing you can let it do ride it's way closer to the bottom exit. Therefore you waste no moves trying to bring it down yourself. However, you will need to move it before it goes through the portal. If it goes through the portal, the ingredient will start on the belt from the very beginning.

Use vertically striped candies
As in any ingredient level, vertically striped candies are going to be your biggest chance. A vertically striped candy will clear out an entire column. Therefore, it is the easiest way to drop an ingredient in one swift and efficient move. However, keep in mind that your vertically striped candy should be located somewhere in the last three rows. If it falls on a conveyor belt, you are going to have a much harder time trying to activate it at the precise moment.

This makes life much easier when you need to drop an ingredient efficiently.
