You can't really do much on the board until the licorice rope is eliminated. The best way to go about clearing the licorice is to use striped candies. Matching two striped candies together, or matching a wrapped candy with a striped candy will eliminate entire columns or rows of licorice.

There is a good chance that the mystery candies will yield something good - especially striped candies or wrapped candies - that could help you eliminate the licorice. There is even a chance that a mystery candy could yield a color bomb. Don't ignore them! Once you free a mystery candy from the licorice, make a match and see what it will give you. You might be pleasantly surprised.

With the matter of clearing all the licorice it may be easy to forget your goal on this level: to collect 5 color bombs. From the moment you start the level, you should be keeping an eye out for any opportunity to make a color bomb.
