Candy Crush Saga Level 198 - Episode 14: Caramel Cove

Tips & Strategies

Written by our expert Candy Crush players

Work around the holes.

The holes are the main obstacle on this level that prevents your progress. Focus your moves in the center row and column, as well as the edges. Aim for the sides initially so you can clear meringue and marmalade to give yourself more board space.

Free specials.

There are striped candies on the borders waiting for you to collect them! Try to clear the marmalade that traps specials. It only takes on adjacent match to clear them! Clear specials on the edges for points and to clear marmalade and meringue. This will give you more room to move around! Make your own specials whenever possible and combine specials together.

Time crunch.

This level only gives you 60 seconds, so every second counts. If you're not sure what to do, just pick the first match you see. It's okay to use the flashing hints if you can't find anything else to do! Get time bonus candies whenever possible.

Candy Crush Level 198 Video

Level 198 is a Timed level, one of five level types in Candy Crush Saga. Your objective is to score 15,000 points in 60 seconds. In order to complete a Timed level, you have to reach a certain score in a certain amount of time. Its more difficult than it seems, since you don't really have time to think about the moves you're making.

How to Beat Timed Levels:

  • Some of the candies have +5's on them. Match these candies! They'll give you five extra seconds in the round, which could be the difference between winning and losing.
  • The timed levels can vary a lot in time, so watch out! Some of them can be as short as fifteen seconds.
  • Some timed levels still have blockers on them, so watch out for them.
  • If you've achieved the minimum score but still have time left, stop playing unless there are no blockers on the board. There's no point losing a level that you have already won.
  • Sugar crushes can be a huge advantage on these levels! Any special candies that you have formed, but that haven't been activated yet, will be activated by a sugar crush. This will get you a HUGE amount of points.

Bonus Tip: Speed Matching

AI

In timed levels, speed beats perfection. Quick matches anywhere beat slow perfect matches. Let cascades work for you while you scan for the next move.

I can't come close on this, my candy crush is over...

I hate levels like this, not because the game is challenging, but because the board is hard to see. Too much background mess going on to tell which areas are playable and which are background. Really wish they would stop doing this. Also don't like that we lose playable time to the bag reshake/shuffle, and while stuff is falling on the other side of the board. Many a time, a win was snatched away because the 1/4 second it would have taken to activate a winning move was stalled.

You are absolutely right, this is a very bad design for a timed level. You first lose time in searching for the single possible move in this mess, and then you lose time again when the board is shuffling again, and again... What is even more stupid, you can earn so much more points in the candy crush after the time is up than while playing. A sugar bomb that was produced by chance after the time was up did score three times more points than what I had scored before. So I didn't pass by my own ability, but by pure chance through action that happened after the game was over. This doesn't feel right.
